Research in the Physics Department covers several areas of Fundamental Physics, in its theoretical, computational and experimental branches. It also has an important component of applied nature.

Research Units

The Research units have at their disposition excelent facilities and advanced laboratorial and computational equipment.

The research teams have several undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs and visiting scientists. They mantain collaborations with prestigiate institutions and companies, both national and foreign.

Research Areas

Research in the department covers several research areas, from fundamental physics (gravitation, statistical physics, condensed matter, quantum optics, etc.) to applied areas of development such as microfabrication, integrated optics, sensors, optical processing and communications.
