On the 1st of June 2011, started the international network "Unification of Fundamental Forces and Applications" (UNIFY) lead by CFP. This network funds the exchange of researchers and aims at exploring developments in String Theory and Quantum Gravity in the fields of Cosmology, Black Hole and Particle Physics.
In the next four years, CFP is leading a global network funded by the FP7 Marie Curier International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES). The network will fund visits of researchers from Europe to partners outside Europe, who have committed with matching funds to visit their European partners. The EU partners are composed of the Porto node (Porto and Santiago Universities), the Paris node (IPhT; LPTENS; LPTHE; CPhT; LPT; APC), and the Berlin node (Humboldt University and Albert Einstein Institute); the non EU partners are composed of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada, the Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics at SUNY in the US, and the Pacific node (Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe in Japan and Caltech in the US).
UNIFY will fund a total of 320 months of visits, corresponding to a total budget of 672 K€. The kick-off meeting of the Network will take place at "Departamento de Física e Astronomia" of FCUP from the 21st to the 23rd of June. For more details see the workshop webpage headline
