Research at CFP

The scientific work at CFP is devoted to fundamental research in Physics. The research activities spread over a wide range of subjects within theoretical physics. Presently our research is centered in two main areas: the area of "Condensed Matter, Statistical and Non-linear Physics", which is focused on research in quantum condensed matter theory, statistical physics of complex systems and non-linear physics; the area of "Cosmology and High Energy Physics", which is focused on research in cosmology, classical and quantum gravity, string theory and its applications to particle physics.

The CFP international advisory board includes scientist of the highest calibre. They are Professors José Luis Martins from Instituto Superior Técnico in Portugal, Paul Shellard from Cambridge University and Raul Toral from Universitat de les Illes Balears. The board's assessment for the year of 2010 can be found here.

A good sample of our current research work can be found below in a series of poster presentations. You can find the references for our scientific work in the Publications link. For information about ongoing projects you are welcome to visit the sections devoted to our Research Projects and Grants.

The unit has several computing resources, which include a workstation room and a cluster destined to advanced scientific calculus.
