Welcome to CFP

"Centro de Física do Porto" (CFP) is a university research unit devoted to fundamental research in Physics. The unit is located in the Physics Department, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. The CFP research team includes university teaching staff, research fellows, graduate students and junior (undergraduate) researchers.

The research developed at CFP covers a wide range of subjects in Theoretical Physics. The unit is very active with a large number of graduate Ph.D. students and many international collaborations. CFP organizes regular seminars and group discussions, as well as international conferences.

Bernard Schutz seminars and public talk at CFP

 Professor Bernard Schutz, director of the Astrophysical Relativity group of the Albert Einstein Institute, will visit CFP from 24 to 26 February 2010. He will present two seminars and one public talk on gravitational waves.
CFP highlighted at APS

 The American Physical Society has just highlighted the recent work of CFP former Ph.D student Pedro Vieira and collaborators. In the words of Professor Joseph Minahan at Upsala University in Sweden, "A mathematical formalism makes a step forward in proving the AdS/CFT correspondence that connects quantum mechanics with gravity".
